Pass Plus is a training course specifically aimed at new drivers, designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) with the help of insurers and the driving instructors industry.  Pass Plus will build upon your existing skills and knowledge, it will teach you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, and can help you become more confident on the roads. Pass Plus is made up of 6 practical modules which include:

1. Driving in Town

2. Driving in all Weather

3. Driving on Rural Roads

4. Driving at Night

5. Driving on Dual Carriageways

6. Driving on Motorways

UPTO A 35% DISCOUNT ON YOUR CAR INSURANCE WITH PASS PLUS

Anyone who holds a full UK licence can take part in the scheme.  You will NOT have to take a test at the end of the course but you will be continually assessed.  You must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard.  The price of the Pass Plus driving course is £120.00.

Pass Plus Cymru

Pass Plus Cymru has been developed to offer a lot more than the basic Pass Plus scheme for people who live in Wales.

What's Involved?

A compulsory group discussion forum:

• Up to 3 hours with an experienced driver trainer.

• In a group of up to 20 young drivers.

• The interactive session covers all the 6 elements of the Pass Plus scheme.

• Defensive Driving.

• Driving Attitudes.

On the Road Training

Following the group discussion you may be paired up with another candidate to carry out the practical part of the course.  Either in pairs or on your own you will go on to spend a whole day or 2 half days with your driving instructor carrying out the 6 modules of the Pass Plus course.  The practical part of the training course is done as soon as possible after the group discussion. 

You will be treated at all times as a fully qualified driver!

Why Should I do Pass Plus Cymru?

As well as reducing your road risk and helping you gain valuable experience and skills, on completion of the course each candidate will be issued with a Certificate of Achievement as well as the Pass Plus certificate.  This will allow you to claim the benefits outlined in the Pass Plus scheme including up to a 35% discount on insurance from Insurance companies who support Pass Plus.

The cost of the course is only £20, a massive discount from the normal cost of between £120 and £150 (Made possible by a special road safety grant from the Welsh assembly Government)

To qualify for the Pass Plus Cymru course you must:

• Be between the ages of 17 - 25

• Hold a full driving licence

• Live in Wales.
